Reducing Plastic Usage by Pallet Wraping Machine
In our business operations, along with our commitment to environmental responsibility, we have taken an initiative to introduce pallet wrapping machines to our logistics processes for product transportation to our retail outlets and intra-warehouse deliveries. Previously, we used manual hand wrapping with a 10-micron thick pallet wrap film. We have now shifted to using a 20-micron thick machine-applied pallet wrap film.
This transition to machine-applied film, coupled with the increased thickness, has allowed us to significantly reduce the consumption of hand-applied pallet wrap film by over 50%. We currently utilize a total of 8 pallet wrapping machines in our operations.
Integrating these pallet wrapping machines not only reduces plastic usage but also facilitates the recycling of used pallet wrap film by bundling it with items that require securing. Additionally, this shift has resulted in cost savings by eliminating the need to purchase hand-applied stretch film, saving over 1.3 million Thai Baht annually, and reducing plastic usage by over 3.6 tons per year.
Utilizing these pallet wrapping machines has led to reduced plastic consumption, the appropriate use of film, and improved transportation efficiency, all of which align with our organization's environmental responsibility efforts.
