Peak period of international logistics situation!!!!
This week will be the 46th week of 2023. We have only 7 weeks left to get past 2023 and into 2024, so from this week onwards, it will be the last important time of the year for many people, especially our importer & exporter also.
Everyone in the import-export industry goes through an intense time and is so busy that they don't have time to follow the movements surrounding. Therefore, today we will the one who updating with easy-to-digest format as following:
1.Situation of Booking space to North America will come back to peak period again at the end of this year.
- Both booking space for regular or new products is still not very pleasant with who have a lot of goods to export, and many routes are in situation of full space and difficult process also do not desirable or coincide with the period of production.
- Many ships line cannot accept multiple routes due to the full allocation space until the last week of November.
- For example, on routes transported to North America. Bookings for new jobs are not accepted on the East Coast and West Coast, as well as on routes to South America or Asia- Latin America, which are also very full!!
- During week 45 to week 49, only on the transport route from Asia to North America, Asia- North America East Coast, the cargo area will disappear up to 110,000 TEU, from Blank sailing.
- Another condition that has to be dealt with is that exporter who have already booked in advance and have booking Confirmation in hand, there is no guarantee that cargo will be transported following this due to fix allocation space from many ships line skip and adjust vessel schedules.
2. Situation of container turnover for pick-up empty containers.
- In terms of overall supply situation and container turnover, many regions around the world go through full scale shortage container due to turnover container not according with demand and supply in period of logistics industries recovering.
- Many importers and exporter in many regions have been reduced demurrage and detention free days from shipping lines and carriers because they need to get short turnover container to service other customers.
- Overview of situation in Thailand, Previous week, many shipping lines have been in congestion period, there is no empty containers for loading, have only to wait container return for inbound.
- Blank sailing is still an effective method to balance supply and demand, it is a tool that does not impair freight cost lower.
- During the period from week 46 to week 49 or in the next 5 weeks, all shipping lines will have announced blank sailing schedules on major shipping routes, totaling at least 52 cruises, or 8% of the total 650 cruises!! Also, the most cancelled routes will be from Asia to North America in transpacific Eastbound that is around 42%, Asia to Middle and North Europe around 38%
3. Freight costs continue to rise in waves!!
- Previous week until this week, ocean freight still increases whether in short haul or non-long haul.
- PSS (Peak Season Surcharge) and GRI (General rate Increase) start in FAK Rate, Tariff Rate and Spot rate as well.
Meanwhile, some shipping lines still maintain rate during 1-2 weeks of November due to waiting any action of shipping lines and carriers, or still waiting the number of shipments that exported from origin.
4. Density situation of major ports around the world but have not yet reached to congestion!!
- Situation at major ports in North America and West such as USLAX, USLGB, USOAK, USTIW, USSEA, reach to be tight all ports, both many vessels that waiting to discharge and many volumes of heavy containers due to big lot of cargo from Asia before Golden week of China and there is a shortage equipment in the rail sector for unloading.
- Meanwhile, major ports in the east and on the Gulf coast such as USNYC, USORF, USCHS are considered stable and steady. Meanwhile, USSAV and USHOU are under strain, both with the number of vessels waiting discharge and the number of containers flowing through. This is because they had to deal with several cargoes that from the Panama Canal.
As above is the one part of logistics situation, however multiple planning and backup planning for out-of-control factors and booking in advance at least 2-3 weeks are option that we as of importer and exporter should be made because it is considered to help in preventing problems.
Fighting everybody!!
