Transport Safety Management (TSM)
Repeorted by Department of Land Transport, more than 70% of road accidents in 2020 were from trucks. Poor transport safety management is a major root causes which lead to truck condition in not available, inappropriate maintenance schedule, driver insufficient resting driver, alocohol or addictive substances detected, not familiar in delivery routing and miss resting areas, driving over speed limit, not aware of safety equipment and sign while parking alongside the road. It is necessary then for transport company or transport department in the company to have employee who is professional in transport safety management, then reduce accidents and drive transport safety standard in organization toward domestic and international.
Recently the Department of Land Transport has announced that a registered transport company in Thailand must has Transport Safety Manager or TSM in the organization. This TMS should have knowledge and TSM-certified in 5 dimensions such as vehicle maintenance and inspection, driver management, trip planning and operation, cargo and passenger safety, emergency management and accidental analysis and prevention. TSM implementation time frame and the act of TSM qualification, training details, and duty are officially initial by the Deparment of Land Transport since 2021 and effective today (updated: Sep-2023)
